Instructions For Incubator/Autoanalyzer
Designed For USE with
IME.TEST™ - Ampoules

Unit is preset to IME.TEST™ Kool Kount Assayer (Total Microbe).

SETUP

OPERATION STEPS

STEP 1:

Select any environment between 72°F and 78°F for operation.
A clean level surface with power service.

STEP 2:

Connect external POWER SUPPLY (AC Adapter, DC Adapter, or Battery Pack).

STEP 3:

Break the IME.Test™ Ampoule that you would like to run the test on.

STEP 4:

Dry the well mixed (no undissolved powder) Ampoule.

TO RUN THE TEST
STEP 5:

INSERT the Ampoule into one of the test cells and close the cell cover.

STEP 6:

Press the "Cell" button until the display screen is showing
the cell number you are using.

STEP 7:

Press the "Mode" button until the desired incubation mode is reached. (Total Bacteria,Total Coliform, E. Coli, Sulfate Bacteria, Fecal Coliform)

STEP 8:

Press "Start" button.

STEP 9:

Press "Enter" to begin the test.

The screen will read Warm UP for a few minutes (may take up to 30) then will change and read: Analyze, Elapsed Time and Mode Code:
TM=Total Bacteria, CF=Total Coliform, EC=E.Coli, SB=Sulfate Bacteria, FC=Fecal Coliform.

THE TEST IS DONE WHEN
STEP 10:

The test is finished when the display screen shows hours and count. (Example: 10.0 2e5, this indicates a test time of 10 hours and a count of 2 x 10(5))

An EC ampoule will still need to be examined for blue fluorescence under a longwave UV lamp after the Incubator shows end of test.

TO CLEAR, CANCEL OR STOP A TEST: Press the Cell button to display the correct cell, then press Stop.

USE THE STATUS BUTTON To cancel a wrong selection or return to the display screen.


POWER SUPPLY:

The Incubator/Autoanalyzer operates from an external power source. It is supplied with a plug-in wall power module, but may also be perated from a Battery Pack or DC Adapter (cigarette lighter adapter). These are available as accessories. If the main power source is removed or interrupted, incubation will be suspended, but cell analysis will continue. When the main power source is restored, full operation, including incubation, will be enabled.

HELPFUL HINTS:

Keep Cell Covers closed during tests,
especially outdoors where sunlight may
cause erroneous readings.

Never move or disturb an ampoule during test.

Leave power source connected to unit so
incubation is stabilized.

If ampoule turbidity is too great for testing, a
“Lo Lite” warning will be displayed.


Do NOT use unit if it has been stored at
temperatures greater than 95°F.
Allow unit to cool to room temperature.

Insure that ingredients in the ampoule are dissolved
before beginning the test.

Allow bubbles in the ampoule to disperse before
beginning the test.

TROUBLE SHOOTING GUIDE:

Plug in Power Supply.
Turn unit off and allow it to cool to less than 95ºF. If possible, wait until other tests have been completed. Turn unit off and gently turn unit over to dislodge ampoule. Use lab spatula to help remove sticky objects. Clean cell with a cotton swab.
Dirty Cell
Test Cells have repeat errors
Early end-of-test
Use a cotton swab with alcohol to clean cell bottom.
Record conditions and return unit for repair.
Samples with particles which settle to the bottom of the ampoule
during incubation will give more reliable results if the unit is
placed on its back during tests.

a) Let sediment in liquid settle before taking sample.
b) See “Dirty Cell” above.
